Great Clips

I was in town for business and needed a haircut so I chose this Great Clips location. I usually go to Great Clips so I know it really depends on the location and stylist. I arrived during a weekday and mid afternoon and there was one stylist (that I saw) and he had a customer that was finishing up. A short time later it was my turn. The stylist was very friendly and seemed very dedicated to making sure I got a good haircut. He was friendly and polite. I don’t think I have ever spent so much time at a Great Clips but I was happy he was spending extra time to do a great job. He particularly spent a lot of time on the back of my head which at one point he said that’s his specialty. I gave him free reign to do what he wanted but just said I wanted the back rounded. He finished up and I went back to my hotel. I took a shower to get any excess hair off of me and that’s when I noticed my hair was still pretty long and certain areas a bit uneven. But I am a perfectionist so I just fixed those spots myself. The back of my head did look flawless and amazing but I probably would have preferring the front looking that way. Anyway, I am still pleased with my experience and would go back to this particular stylist.

I've come to great clips multiple times and my haircuts have come out fine and really well. However I didn't enjoy my latest visit there, the lady who did my hair did a really poor job. Cut my bangs and they're so uneven, one side of my hair is bigger then the other and she barley did anything to the back of my hair, I showed her an image of what I wanted my hair to look as well, she skimmed through the picture briefly and completely ruined my hair. I'm pretty sure she was new too which honestly made it worse.

Great Clips is hit or miss. You might get a great cut and you might not. I had received a bad cut at the Tustin location so I went to the Santa Ana location to get it fixed. I really liked the way the stylist cut my hair at this location. However, my last 2 visits left me extremely unsatisfied with my cut. The lady I usually get my cut from wasn't there and different lady cut my hair. She didn't cut my hair hardly at all and didn't cut anything off the top as I had asked. It was like not getting a cut at all. Then on my last visit, I was able to get a cut from the lady who usually cuts my hair very well. However, this time she was the only worker there and was distracted by the customers who were waiting asking her questions. She had to keep stopping to answer the phone and receive in, incoming customers. The result of this latest cut is one side is shorter than the other, some parts didn't get cut at all, is uneven all over and my hair doesn't style the way I'd like. Bottom line is, the stylist at Great Clips needs to focus on the customer in front of them and listen to what they want. They need to cut hair the way the customer asks and not "their way". Now I have to find another place to get my hair cut and try and find the right person to do it all over again. So frustrating!

If anyone wants a butchered up hair job, please feel free to come here. I have curly hair so it was kind of expected, but I really was desperate enough to get my hair short. The lady who did my hair cut too much off for one thing and thankfully she insisted on not giving me a shorter haircut that would classify as "a boy's hair cut," after politely pointing out that it was a bit (quite a lot) uneven to begin with. She clearly didn't know what she was doing, since any person with experience should know that every curly hair is different.. especially black hair. I had my hair up all day in a bun and when I take it down, it appears straighter than it's natural curly state since I am mixed and my mom's straight hair gene makes my hair easier to manipulate..She even decided to put some "curly hair" in-store products in my hair to "style" my hair... Only thing it did was make my hair flaky. She was nice enough to wash my hair, but cut then cut more while it was wet. -_- I got a refund for the haircut, but couldn't get the $6 tip (for my mom and my haircut) back since the manager wasn't there. I'm so glad I found somebody better, a bit pricey, but worth my humiliation I had to put up with. I like the great clips on MacArthur for my husband, but never again will I go cheap on my hair again!! Guess they give just about anybody a certificate no matter how crappy the job was.

I had been visiting this location for a few years - long after moving away from the immediate area - because the franchise owner was very nice and most of the stylists were decent. Last weekend, I checked in online before driving a half hour from where I currently live, to get a hair cut for my son. When I arrived, the staff scurried to the back of the shop like a bunch of rats and when I got close enough to the door to read the sign, I saw they were closing early. No phone call letting me know after I checked in online. No acknowledgement when I was standing outside the shop. No gratification that I had passed no fewer than 4 Great Clips locations driving across town to be a loyal customer.
